Born: 1959, Dorset.
MA Fine Art, Chelsea School of Art.
Michael has paintings held in private and corporate collections in the US and Europe.The paintings are made up of counterflowing picture planes. No brushes are used in these richly dynamic aerial view landscapes which explore the relationship of scale between the fragment and the whole. Recent large painting commissions have included Canary Wharf’s Docklands/Hilton development. and celebrities Patrick Kielty and Eos Chater from Bond.
In 1999 Michael formed overlap as a platform for his digital work. Overlap have had work shown at Tate Britain and the ICA and exhibit and VJ regularly at festivals and club events.

About my work
What interests me in painting, digital imaging and VJ-ing are the things I like about motorcycling: purpose and control mixed with variables and chance.I make the paintings more abstract than the sequenced imagery because there’s more time to look into them, but my aim remains the same: to trigger suggestion and memories without swamping interpretation. A place, a time, somewhere between setting off and arriving.
